Monthly Technique Class

Here's the cards we made yesterday at my monthly technique class. Techniques we learned included, spiral pop up, bandanna design, and roll with the punches. Classes are held every 4th Thursday of the month. We also used my new Big Shot to punch out the flowers.

Russell Gulch Cemetery Crawl

Last Saturday was the annual Gilpin County Historical Society Cemetery Crawl. This year it was at the Russell Gulch IOOF Cemetery. This cemetery was founded by Welsh miners in the 1870's. Here's a picture of 2 miners spirit's come back to tell us how they died from the bad air 500 ft down in the mine shaft. The canary died too!

The DNC in Denver

It's finally over! The city was alive and vibrant and fun during the DNC this week. Julie and I headed downtown on Wednesday just to see what was happening. We walked the 16th St Mall and then headed over to Union Station where MSNBC was broadcasting. Not too many celebrity sightings, but did see the Verizon man and his crew!

Sock Monkey Swap

Here's my swap for a meeting next week. The theme is a kids card, so what better than the new Sock Monkey. I used the watercolor pencils and blender pen to color the monkey, markers to color the cut and popped out cupcake and hat. Colors used were Real Red and Bordering Blue.
Enjoy!

Fresh snow on the high peaks

Last weekend was cold and rainy, with a hint of Fall in the air! Or was in Winter? We woke up on Sunday to the Continental Divide covered with snow. I don't think I've ever seen snow like this in August. The Gilpin County Fair wasn't completely rained out, but hopefully the weather will be better next year. This Saturday, the 23rd, is the annual cemetery crawl in Central City. This year it is at the Russel Gulch Cemetery.
