Thanksgiving at the cabin

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend at the cabin. It lightly snowed most of the time, but never accumulated much. Here's a buck we saw on the way home. While Rick was sawing wood, I worked on Christmas Cards and stayed warm by the fire. Can't wait to get back at New Year's and hope there is plenty of snow for skiing.

Gift Tags & Boxes

Julie and I made these cute boxes and gift tags to sell at the church fair using the Big Shot envelope die, punches and Deer Friends Hostess set. I got the idea for the box from a tutorial at www.stampingwithsheryl.typepad.com

I'm also giving these as gifts to my Technique Hostess Club members. November was the last month, and I like to give a special gift to members.

Gift Card Holder

Here is a gift card holder that we made at my last Technique Class. Julie and I made extras to sell at the craft fair also. The card uses the It's a Sign set and lots of punches.

Mountain Man Open House

Carol and Lisa enjoyed digging through the free cards with baby Bree in tow!

Fall is fleeting in the mountains, but the Summer like weather at the Open House at the Mountain Man Car Wash Community room last Saturday was fabulous. Here's Karen and Pat stamping the make and takes. Watch for announcements on future events in Gilpin County.
Here's the door sign I made for my in-laws new apartment door. I used my Big Shot with the Go Go Boots letters and Bird & Blooms Sizzlits to decorate it. I also used the Pink Pirouette Designer Series Paper to cover the On Board Book Basics Large chipboard.

Here's Carolyn and Janice showing off their Halloween pop up card. The next class is the 4th Thursday of October.

Fall Color at the Cabin

It's Fall in the Colorado Rockies, and the Aspen are gold. The picture on the right isn't too easy to see, but there is a herd of elk and 2 bulls bugling. Quite a sight in Gilpin County.
If you click on the picture it will show up full screen and you can see the elk.

Moving Day is Coming - Alley Moving Van

Rick and I spent the last weekend at his parent's home in Washington, Kansas cleaning out their basement and attic. When they took all that stuff up there, who did they think was going to get it down? They will soon be moving to their new home at the Tabitha Village Apt. in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Luckily the alley moving van proved useful!

Labor Day Party at Cabin

Labor Day! The end of summer. It's been cold at the cabin, so the aspen will be turning soon. Here's Karen, Susan, and Carolyn checking out the SU catalog trying to decide on this year's Christmas card. The Mini Catalog will be here soon, with lots of beautiful Christmas Stamps!

Russell Gulch Cemetery Crawl

Last Saturday was the annual Gilpin County Historical Society Cemetery Crawl. This year it was at the Russell Gulch IOOF Cemetery. This cemetery was founded by Welsh miners in the 1870's. Here's a picture of 2 miners spirit's come back to tell us how they died from the bad air 500 ft down in the mine shaft. The canary died too!

The DNC in Denver

It's finally over! The city was alive and vibrant and fun during the DNC this week. Julie and I headed downtown on Wednesday just to see what was happening. We walked the 16th St Mall and then headed over to Union Station where MSNBC was broadcasting. Not too many celebrity sightings, but did see the Verizon man and his crew!

Sock Monkey Swap

Here's my swap for a meeting next week. The theme is a kids card, so what better than the new Sock Monkey. I used the watercolor pencils and blender pen to color the monkey, markers to color the cut and popped out cupcake and hat. Colors used were Real Red and Bordering Blue.
Enjoy!

Fresh snow on the high peaks

Last weekend was cold and rainy, with a hint of Fall in the air! Or was in Winter? We woke up on Sunday to the Continental Divide covered with snow. I don't think I've ever seen snow like this in August. The Gilpin County Fair wasn't completely rained out, but hopefully the weather will be better next year. This Saturday, the 23rd, is the annual cemetery crawl in Central City. This year it is at the Russel Gulch Cemetery.

This hall seats 21,000. I participated in a shoe box swap, and spent lots of money at the memento hall. The new catalog is fabulous!!! Come to my open house on August 14th and get your copy.
